The Gemini Jacket Installation campaign consisted of the installation of two complete jacket constructions named Buitengaats and ZeeEnergie, located approximately 55 kilometres North of the island of Schiermonnikoog in the Dutch North Sea sector.
Scaldis SMC was awarded the Transport & Installation contract by Fabrication & Installation Contractor Cofely Fabricom NV, for the both jacket and topside structures. Subsequently VSF was awarded the subcontract for pile installation and grouting operations on both jackets.
The heavy lift vessel Rambiz was mobilised early July and sailed directly to the installation site. All piling operations were performed by VSF with an IHC Hydrohammer type S-1400, 108” pile sleeve and two P-2200-W power packs. VSF also supplied the Internal Lifting Tool for pile upending and operated this specific tool.
The required grouting scope formed also part of VSF’ subcontract. A total of 269 tonnes of high strength BASF MasterFlow 9500 grouting material was supplied, mixed and pumped into the sleeves of the jacket.
